We had the opportunity to catch Newman's first encounter with a deer. This shot shows his initial reaction of "what the heck is that?" He then proceeds to 'stalk' it, growl at it and even swat at it at one time. It was the biggest mouse he ever saw.
The deer became familiar to us, recognizable by a large zig zagged scar on her shoulder. We have not seen her in a few weeks, but she was back several times, and with a fawn. The fawn was nearly as big as she was last time we saw it from the breakfast table a couple of weeks ago. We have also seen a buck wandering occasionally. Not sure if he's the dad, or just a wandering buck.
