Here are a few pictures from the third Ruby Hive check. This particular check, David had put the queen excluder on top of the base with too few frames beneath and they built a good bit of comb on the excluder. They were very mad at us for taking it, and Alecia and I both ended up getting stung. We had just gotten to lax with our precautions and were not wearing any protection. The bees were so upset after all this, we avoided the yard altogether for the rest of the day! They are such a healthy hive though. Really thriving! These are the bees we captured from a swarm in Lakewood.

are you harvesting honey yet?
baking soda works really well for stings...it kinds sucks the venom out. Or at least it makes it feel better.
I had a neighbor who was trimming her shrubs and she got stung by a yellow jacket...I mixed the baking soda with water and put it on her sting. She went right out and continued to trin that same shrub...she got stung again, she walked right into my house w/o knocking to get more baking soda. LOL!
